Family is a special thing. I've been lucky enough to watch my great grandparents, my maternal grandmother's patents, grow to a ripe old age. Three of my grandparents were there to watch me walk at graduation, walk down the aisle, and as I gave birth to my two children. Not only have they been around but all of my grandparents are a driving force in my life. I admire them, cherish them, and love them. It makes me so happy that Graham does, too. Above he is playing with my Papa, my Mother's father.
Graham and Maeve are lucky, too. They have a plethora of family around. When Graham was born my mother, my best friend and Graham's godmother (Lindsay!!!!!), my Grandma Betty, my sister-in-law Shelby, and my mother-in-law Jill were all there with Brent and I. Out in the waiting room waited my father and stepmother, Papa, and my brother Brandon.
This time Lindsay couldn't be there having moved to TN but Maeve's welcome was equally abundant. My cousin Desiree' was there along with our wonderful friend who is also my brother's girlfriend and our nanny, Allie! Of course, Grandma Betty and my mom were in the room with me as well and Graham came in immediately after I finished pushing. Papa was out in that waiting room again, too.
Graham and Maeve will have the joy of numerous grandparents (currently 6 grandmas when you add in the greats and great greats!) that love them intensely as mine did. They have uncles and aunts that are rather numerous, too. And, just as important, they have each other. They are lucky to be so lucky.
